Tangerang - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been named as the second most connected airport for Asia Pasific region after Incheon Airport- Korea, KLIA - Malaysia, and Hongkong Airport, according to Megahubs International Index 2018 Report - The World's Most Internationally Connected Airports by OAG (British air travel intelligence institution).

In the report, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport received a connectivity index score of 249 or just 4 points adrift of Changi International Airport - Singapore which has an index value of 253.

As for the process of determining the index value, OAG calculates the total possibility of airport connectivity for incoming and outgoing flights in a period of 6 hours. Where the determination criteria for connectivity include international flights to and from the airport (single international connections) and international flights including domestic to international, international to domestic, and international to international.

In 2017, the passenger flow at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reached 63 million passengers which placed it as the 17th busiest airport in the world. With 2018 passenger estimates that will reach 68 million passengers, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport continues to develop infrastructure in order to increase passenger capacity such as the construction of east cross taxiway, runway 3, revitalization of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and construction of Terminal 4.

Through infrastructure development, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport can be increasingly competitive to become an airport of pride in the nation and to support the growth of tourism and the Indonesian economy.
