TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has determined that as of 15 August 2019 the revitalization project of Terminal 1C of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will begin.

Senior Manager Of Branch of Communication and Legal, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Febri Toga Simatupang said that the development of Terminal 1 was carried out in stages starting from Terminal 1C, following later 1B and 1A. "During structuring, Terminal 1C cannot be operated for a while," he said, Monday, August 12, 2019.

Airlines currently in Terminal 1C Citilink, Trigana Air and Airfast Indonesia will switch operations on August 15, 2019. Specifically, Citilink airlines will move to domestic Terminal 2. While Trigana and Airfast shifted to Terminal 1B.

Febri said the revitalization was carried out to improve services and the capacity of the number of passengers was double that currently available. With revitalization, Terminal 1 will have a capacity of 18 million from the previous 9 million passengers per year.

This revitalization is the first time since 1985 Soekarno-Hatta Airport has operated. The revitalization of this terminal is also to increase passenger capacity per year at Soekarno-Hatta Airport which in 2018 has reached 67 million people. While its capacity is only 43 million people.

"The current terminal condition is considered inadequate to serve the growing number of passengers," said Febri.

Even so, Febri stressed, revitalization of Terminal 1 will continue to maintain the initial design. The project which is scheduled to be completed in 360 days will expand the central corridor area, connecting boarding lounge area, check-in counter area and so on.

The idea to rejuvenate Terminal 1 was done not only because it was to increase passenger capacity but also as a breakthrough to implement the development of the technology world.

Innovation and the concept of transformation of digital-based services or automation will later in order to accelerate the movement of passengers in the Terminal.

"Various digital-based services, such as digital lounges, game station facilities, digital wayfinding, smart baggage, will be available there," Febri said.

Not only Terminal 1, Terminal 2 is also being gradually revitalized so that in the future the overall total will be able to accommodate 75 million passengers per year.

This revitalization project will be integrated with a number of other Soekarno-Hatta Airport development projects. One of them is an integrated building construction project.
