TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) has begun operating the new facility of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, namely east cross taxiway. Senior Manager Of Branch Communication & Legal Main Branch Office of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Febri Toga Simatupang explained, the operation of the east cross taxiway or the south runway and north runway connecting line was officially opened by being crossed by Garuda Indonesia GA838 aircraft with registration number PK-GFE to Singapore today, Monday (12/16/2019) at 16:40 WIB.
"In addition to the two Garuda Indonesia aircraft, the east cross taxiway has also been crossed by Air Asia and Batik Air aircraft. So in total for the first operation there are four aircraft that have crossed," he told Kompas.com, Tuesday (12/17/2019). Febri said that the operation of the east cross taxiway could cut the holding time of planes that would take off and planes that would land at Soekarno-Hata Airport.
The operation of the east cross taxiway is also a step by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport for the smooth transportation of Christmas 2019 and the new year 2020 (Nataru). "We also make sure that this will add to the support in Nataru this year," explained Febri.
The East Cross Taxiway, which began construction in January 2018, has a length of 1,560 meters and a width of 60 meters. This facility can also be passed by Airbus A380 Jumbo aircraft. "Although the A380 has not yet entered Indonesia. But we make sure the type of aircraft can cross this east cross taxiway." he said.
