NATIONAL INFO - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assesses that health checks have been carried out strictly on aircraft passengers from abroad who have just arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia with a number of passengers reaching around 60-70 million annually.
As a form of support for a government that is ready to face and prevent the Covid-19 outbreak, Soekarno-Hatta conducted a multi-layered check to minimize the risk of spreading the corona virus to the country.
When entering the airport, upon arrival from abroad, Jokowi assessed the checking process was quite strict, including filling out the Health Alert Card.
"Then, if it comes from a country that we are already wary of, enter (check) to a different door and check for the 4 countries, checked 3 times. Those from outside the country are double-checked by a thermal scanner and thermal gun. I think it is a necessity which in my opinion is strict, "said the President.
This was conveyed by Jokowi on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Terminal 3 of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport after reviewing the health check activities for newly arrived international passengers.
On the same occasion, the President also witnessed disinfection activities by spraying disinfectant liquids throughout the Soekarno-Hatta area.
"If at the airport and port then the station I think the government, BUMN, has also been doing (spraying disinfectant liquid) since a week ago. But I just want to make sure that this continues every day, "Jokowi said. He also wanted to ensure that the thermal scanner and thermal gun really existed and were installed.
The disinfectant liquid spraying program is carried out every day in Soekarno-Hatta during the off-peak hours to sterilize the passenger terminal of the aircraft and other public areas from various viruses.
President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), Muhammad Awaluddin, said that checking on international passengers in Soekarno-Hatta was done through the Health Alert Card, then through a thermal scanner and thermal gun.
"In Soekarno-Hatta there is also a special lane for checking passengers from four countries, namely Iran, South Korea, Italy and China," he said.
"All stakeholders in Soekarno-Hatta and other airports under PT Angkasa Pura II are committed to checking to minimize the risk of corona spread, but still by prioritizing aspects of service, security and safety," said Muhammad Awaluddin continued.
When reviewing Terminal 3, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir; Minister of Health, Terawan Agus Putranto; Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment, Luhut B. Panjaitan; The Minister of the Interior, Tito Karnavian; and the National Police Chief, Idham Aziz.
In addition, there is also the Head of the State Intelligence Agency, Budi Gunawan; TNI Commander, Hadi Tjahjanto; and the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Doni Monardo; and President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin.
