PT Angkasa Pura II and BNN Cooperate to Eradicate Narcotics Circulation

21 Sep 2020

WARTAKOTAIVE.COM, BANDARA - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) as the manager of 19 airports in Indonesia is committed to supporting the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in eradicating drug abuse and trafficking in the country.

Previously, PT Angkasa Pura II and BNN had signed a memorandum of understanding (Memorandum of Understanding / MoU) on the Prevention and Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Narcotics and Narcotics Precursor.

And now this synergy is being enhanced through cooperation.

In the initial stage, the cooperation was implemented at Soekarno-Hatta Airport before it was also carried out at other PT Angkasa Pura II airports.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Agus Haryadi said that the implementation of the cooperation in the near future is the implementation of urine tests on airport personnel.

"The urine test conducted by BNN is carried out regularly and is an effort of PT Angkasa Pura II so that all Soekarno-Hatta Airport personnel are clean from drugs.

"Of course, the time for the urine test will be done suddenly," said Agus, Monday (21/9/2020).

Soekarno-Hatta Airport also provides publication media such as digital banners to post BNN socialization content regarding the dangers of drugs.

Furthermore, Agus Haryadi said a number of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Aviation Security personnel would also have the ability to handle drugs.

"Aviation Security [Avsec] 's main task is to support safe flights, one of which is by preventing dangerous goods from boarding the plane, and drugs are not considered dangerous goods.

"However, Avsec will still support BNN in handling drugs," he said.

On September 17, 2020, Avsec personnel at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru, received an award from the Ministry of Transportation for their success in thwarting an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine-type drugs that will be sent to Papua via Jakarta.

PT Angkasa Pura II Director of Operation and Service Muhamad Wasid thanked the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation who gave awards to Avsec personnel at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport.

"This award is a form of Ministry of Transportation's attention as well as a trigger for PT Angkasa Pura II to be even better in maintaining the national aviation sector," he said.

"The threat of drugs is very dangerous, it can damage the morale and mentality of the nation.

"I ask all personnel of PT Angkasa Pura II including Avsec to take care of the prevention and eradication of drugs, especially at all company airports," continued Muhamad Wasid.
