Targeting Manage 1 Million Tons of Cargo, Angkasa Pura II Cooperates with My Indo Airlines Cargo Freighter

20 Feb 2019

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), manager of 16 airports, sharpened penetration in the cargo business by cooperating with My Indo Airlines.

Collaboration with My Indo Airlines is carried out by AP II through its subsidiary, PT Angkasa Pura Kargo.

My Indo Airlines itself is a well-known company in the national cargo industry that operates Boeing 737 aircraft specifically for cargo (cargo freighter).

In the initial stage, the cooperation was poured in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on today, Wednesday 20 February 2019, between PT Angkasa Pura Cargo and My Indo Airlines.

Through the MoU that has been signed, PT Angkasa Pura Kargo and My Indo Airlines will develop a scheme of cooperation plans related to the development of the logistics business.

The scheme of the cooperation plan will be prepared regarding logistics and supply chain, warehousing management, cargo and post security checks (regulated agents), cargo and other postal services, and cargo sales agent.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said this MoU was the right first step for the company to achieve the target of managing 1 million tons of cargo this year.

"We project that the cargo business will grow in line with the booming e-commerce and digital market place, because AP II captures this opportunity and focuses on e-commerce cargo. The momentum is now where we have to start cooperating with big players in the national and global cargo industry. "

"AP II must also have industrial infrastructure, both hard infrastructure and soft infrastructure that supports cargo growth at airports, this year for hard infrastructure we develop cargo areas in almost all airports including the construction of cargo village projects at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and for the soft infrastructure we will develop the Integrated Cargo Logistics System, "Muhammad Awaluddin explained.

The President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Kargo Denny Fikri also revealed that this cooperation aims to have a positive impact on the needs of air cargo distribution.

"The high movement of air cargo makes cargo freighter as an alternative in meeting needs. "Hopefully this collaboration can accommodate the needs of the national air cargo market optimally," he said.

The target of handling 1 million tons of cargo is the main program of AP II this year to generate business revenue sources other than those originating from the core business of the airport business.

Over the past year, AP II handled 932,107 tons, consisting of 545,112 tons of domestic cargo and 386,995 tons of international cargo.

Especially for domestic cargo, the realization in 2018 increased significantly to 20% compared to the previous year.
