Angkasa Pura II Supports the Issuance of Bomb Issue Sanctions for Providing Deterrent Effects

30 May 2018

With regard to the incident at Pontianak Supadio Airport where a plane passenger declared a bomb on Monday, May 28, 2018, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) supported the regulator and the authorities to impose sanctions and the heaviest deterrent effect on bombers on flight, both at land side such as at airports, ATC towers and flight equipment, also on the air side such as on airplanes so that similar events do not occur again in the future.

AP2 strongly supports the authorities to impose criminal and civil penalties in accordance with the Aviation Law, where in article 437 of the Aviation Law, it is stated that all information related to bombs, whether real or false, is an "illegal act", will be processed and there are strict sanctions by authorities. Paragraph (1) of the article reads, "Every person submitting false information that endangers flight safety as referred to in Article 344 letter e shall be punished with a maximum of 1 (one) year imprisonment".

In paragraph (2) and (3) it is stated that: In the case of a criminal offense as referred to in paragraph (1) resulting in an accident or loss of property, shall be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 8 (eight) years, and if it results in the death of a person with a maximum of 15 (fifteen) years imprisonment.

Vice President of Corporate Communication PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Yado Yarismano explained, "A number of preventive steps have been taken by AP II to disseminate the impact that can be received by junkies carrying bombs at airports, one of which is to more intensively socialize and educate passengers and the community through digital media in 15 airports managed by AP II and through social media channels owned by AP II ".

"Proactively, increasing procedural enhancement of security in accordance with Minister of Transportation Regulation No. KM 80 of 2017 concerning the National Aviation Security Program and Appendix 17 on Aviation Security from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has also been carried out in relation to the level of safety of flying at International Airport 15 managed by AP II ".

AP II also calls on all communities to not easily overcome bomb problems in safety, because in addition to safety, safety and comfort of passengers, it also provides psychological protection related to various problems that make large hazardous materials at airports, airlines and other transportation.
