Services and Facilities Recognized by Traveler, Soekarno-Hatta Increases in the Skytrax World's Best Airport List

Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta International Airport ranks continue to rise in the list of the best airports in the world.

At World’s Top 100 Airports 2020 in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2020, Soekarno-Hatta was ranked 35th in the world or up compared to 2019 (rank 40), 2018 (rank 45), and 2017 (rank 44).

In ASEAN, in 2020 Soekarno-Hatta's position is better than Kuala Lumpur International Airport (ranked 63) and Suvarnabhumi Bangkok (ranked 48). Meanwhile, Changi Singapore is still ranked 1.

Soekarno-Hatta also succeeded in being ranked 4th in the world in the category of World’s Best Airport by Passenger Number 2020 (60-70 million passengers) or up from 2019 in the 6th rank.

In determining the ranking, Skytrax held a survey in September 2019 to February 2020 involving travelers from more than 100 countries. Meanwhile, the number of airports assessed reaches 550 airports in the world.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the award from Skytrax was the result of the company's commitment to always improve services and facilities in Soekarno-Hatta.

"Every year the development is carried out in Soekarno-Hatta so that the traveler feels comfortable and satisfied with the existing services and facilities. This is also inseparable from the role of all stakeholders in Soekarno-Hatta. The cooperation and hard work of the stakeholders received recognition from the traveler, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said the improved Soekarno-Hatta rating was the result of the digital transformation launched by the company since 2016.

The concept carried by the company is Digitally Ready Enterprise by utilizing state of the art technology.

"Soekarno-Hatta became a place in developing digital platforms for services, facilities and operations before later being used at other airports."

"This is in line with the company's vision to become the Best Smart Connected Airport Operator in the Region. We are committed to providing the best through digital platforms to bring the airport digital journey experience to the community, "explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Implementation of digital transformation that supports Soekarno-Hatta into Smart Connected Airport to maintain operational comfort and smoothness, including: Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC), Terminal Operation Center (TOC), iPerform application, Digital Droid, i-Millennial Airport Travel Experience ( i-Mate Lounge), and so on

Soekarno-Hatta currently operates with 3 passenger terminals, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 which are the largest and most grand terminals in Indonesia.

Public transportation operating in Soekarno-Hatta is also included in the modern category and relies on technological sophistication such as Skytrain, Airport Trains, to electric taxis.

To improve services, Soekarno-Hatta also operates a number of autonomous equipment such as robotic scrubber drier and digital droid robots, the DiLo robot, which can play the role of customer service.

In the midst of COVID-19, Soekarno-Hatta also has a Virtual Customer Assistant (VICA) service that can be accessed on the INAirports application. VICA changed the customer assistant service from face to face to virtual, so it really supports physical distancing.

Muhammad Awaluddin said Soekarno-Hatta's ranking in the list of the world's best airports would increase in the future along with the completion of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 revitalization, as well as the construction of Terminal 4.

"The development of Soekarno-Hatta continues. Currently, Terminal 1 and 2 are being revitalized, and in 2021 the construction of Terminal 4. will begin with an increase in services and facilities that will bring the national airport sector to a higher level, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
