Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) as the manager of 19 airports in Indonesia is committed to supporting the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in eradicating the abuse and distribution of drugs in the country.
Previously, PT Angkasa Pura II and BNN had signed a memorandum of understanding (Memorandum of Understanding / MoU) on the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Narcotics and Narcotics Precursor, and now the synergy is being enhanced through cooperation.
In the initial stage, the cooperation was implemented at Soekarno-Hatta Airport before it was also carried out at other PT Angkasa Pura II airports.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Agus Haryadi said that the implementation of the cooperation in the near future is the implementation of urine tests on airport personnel.
"The urine test conducted by BNN is carried out regularly and is an effort by PT Angkasa Pura II so that all Soekarno-Hatta Airport personnel are clean from drugs. Of course, the time for the urine test will be done suddenly, "said Agus Haryadi.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport also provides publication media such as digital banners to post BNN socialization content regarding the dangers of drugs.
Furthermore, Agus Haryadi said that a number of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Aviation Security personnel would also have the ability to handle drugs.
"Aviation Security [Avsec] 's main task is to support safe flights, one of which is by blocking dangerous goods from boarding the plane, and drugs are not considered dangerous goods. However, Avsec will still support BNN in handling drugs, "said Agus Haryadi.

On September 17, 2020, Avsec personnel at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru, received an award from the Ministry of Transportation for their success in thwarting an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine-type drugs that will be sent to Papua via Jakarta.
PT Angkasa Pura II Director of Operation and Service Muhamad Wasid said his gratitude to the Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation who gave awards to Avsec personnel at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport.
