Here are 3 Ways PT Angkasa Pura II Maximizes PSC Stimulus from the Government

Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is committed to maximizing the passenger service charge (PSC) stimulus provided by the government at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Kualanamu, Halim Perdanakusuma, Silangit and Banyuwangi.

Stakeholders at the 5 airports will collaborate so that this stimulus can optimize the role of the aviation sector in supporting the economy amid the pandemic.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the PSC stimulus provided by the government should be utilized by the national aviation sector to boost the economy.

"Aviation is very close to other industries, namely official travel, tourism, which also indirectly contribute to the MSME business in a destination city and boost the regional economy. Therefore, this stimulus must really be utilized by PT Angkasa Pura II, airlines and other stakeholders. "

"What is clear is that the provision of a government policy that provides PSC stimuli to 5 airports is correct, because the movement of passengers at the 5 airports represents 75% of the total movement of passengers at 19 AP II airports.

Muhammad Awaluddin revealed 3 strategies for PT Angkasa Pura II to take advantage of this stimulus, namely:

1. Ensure the availability of flight slots at the airport
The 5 airports that are included in the PSC stimulus scheme by the government will ensure the availability of flight slots needed by airlines.

“PT Angkasa Pura II is actively coordinating with airlines. We will try to fulfill what the airlines need, especially with regard to flight slots. For example, we'll keep the airport open if there are nighttime flights that land outside of our announced operating hours. This means that we ensure the availability of slots for airlines, ”explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

2. Coordinate with airlines to improve routes and destinations
The hope of this stimulus is that airplane ticket prices will be lower so that it is the right moment for airports and airlines to reopen domestic routes that were closed during the pandemic.

3. Coordinate with airlines to increase flight frequency
The PSC stimulus can certainly increase the demand for flights. PT Angkasa Pura II and the airline will analyze the possibility of which domestic routes have increased so that the flight frequency can be added on that route if possible.

Meanwhile, in line with the PSC stimulus from the government, it is estimated that passenger movement and aircraft movements will increase.

In October, it is estimated that passengers at the 5 airports receiving the PSC stimulus are estimated to be 1.45 million people, and after the stimulus the PSC is predicted to increase 20% in November to 1.74 million people.

Then the estimate of passengers in December can reach 2.5 million passengers or an increase of about 44% compared to November.

Especially at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, passengers in October are estimated at 1.15 million people, then in November it increased to 1.35 million people, and in December it increased to 1.93 million people.

"We are grateful to the government and will make good use of this PSC stimulus so that it can optimally support the National Economic Recovery [PEN] program," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.


Increased passenger movement

PT Angkasa Pura II also has anticipatory and handling steps related to an estimated increase in passenger movements in line with the PSC stimulus, and is related to the long holiday on October 28 - November 1 2020.

Health protocols are strictly implemented with other stakeholders at the airport, which focus on 5 things, namely physical distancing programs, health screening, touchless processing services and facilities, everyone's security (people protection) , as well as cleanliness of airport facilities (facility cleanliness and sanitizing).

"We also comply with the current regulations, which state that the maximum number of Busy Time Passengers [PWS] at the airport is 50% of capacity. For example at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the PWS allowed is 23,336 passengers / hour. We are keeping the limit met, ”said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin said that at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, rebalancing traffic had also been carried out by moving airline operations, for example Citilink from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta International Airport
