The company anticipates increased flights in November - December

Jakarta - The number of aircraft passengers at PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) airports has reached a new psychological figure of over 30 million people.

The cumulative total throughout this year on a year-to-date basis or on January 1 - November 7 2020, the number of passengers reached 30.04 million people.

Along with that, the number of aircraft movements was recorded at 340,416 flights and 561.27 million kilograms of cargo.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin said the number of passengers as of November 7 was quite high considering the heavy travels this year were due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In the midst of this hard hit from COVID-19, PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders remain committed to operating the airport with operations and services according to the standards set by regulators, coupled with health protocols to prevent COVID-19 and various other procedures, such as those related to immigration and customs."

"These efforts make people feel confident about their activities and make flights from PT Angkasa Pura II airports. Slowly, the number of passengers at 19 airports has increased until now it has passed the psychological figure of 30 million passengers, ”said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin added that this achievement could not be separated from government support for PT Angkasa Pura II.

"We are grateful to the Ministry of SOEs, who within 1 year of leadership of the Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, among others, always encourage savings through cost leadership, the use of digital technology, and the transformation of SOEs so that under the pressure of this pandemic we can continue to operate optimally and effectively."

"The role of the Ministry of Transportation is also very significant in the midst of this pandemic by issuing various regulations to strengthen the national aviation sector, as well as providing passenger service charge [PSC] incentives for a number of airports, including those managed by AP II," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In addition, PT Angkasa Pura II and airlines are also closely coordinating to optimize flight time slots, reactivate routes that were closed and increase flight frequencies on existing routes.

The Garuda Indonesia flight GA 207 route Yogyakarta - Jakarta, which landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on November 8 at around 13.30 WIB, is a flight that symbolically signifies the passing of 30 million passengers at PT Angkasa Pura II airport this year.

Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Agus Haryadi said that on January 1 - November 7 2020 the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport reached around 17 million people or around 56% of the total passengers at 19 airports.

"We thank you for the trust of the people who travel through Soekarno-Hatta Airport. As a form of gratitude, we welcome passengers of Garuda Indonesia GA 207 today. "

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport, as the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, has a strategic role in supporting community activities and contributing to the National Economic Recovery program. We are committed to implementing health protocols properly for the smooth operation of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, so that it will also have a positive impact on other airports, "said Agus Haryadi.

Improvement of domestic routes and international routes
In the last two months of this year, domestic routes are expected to be more vibrant and international routes more vibrant.

One of the reasons for the increase in domestic routes is the long holiday for collective leave in December.

Meanwhile, international routes will increase along with the opening of Umrah flights and Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA) between Indonesia and several countries, namely the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, China, Singapore and following Japan.

"PT Angkasa Pura II and stakeholders are preparing to anticipate an increase in flight traffic. The health protocol, including the concept of Biosafety and Biosecurity Management, must be implemented at all PT Angkasa Pura II airports, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.

PT Angkasa Pura II estimates that the number of passengers throughout the year which is tough amid this pandemic can reach around 34 - 35 million passengers.
