Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport introduced a breakthrough in the hospitality industry through the Digital Airport Hotel.
Digital Airport Hotel managed by PT Capsule Indonesia was first opened on August 10, 2018 at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport with 120 futuristic capsules or rooms with various facilities to make it easier for travelers who need conciseness, practicality, speed and are very concerned about budget.
In each 1.3 meter x 2 meter capsule, there are a number of facilities such as television, headphones, mattresses, pillows, blankets, 2 USB charging ports, ambience light, air conditioning, super fast WiFi, and mirrors. There are also lockers and shower rooms in the hotel area that can be used by customers.
Seeing the high demand, Digital Airport Hotel then in February 2020 opened services at Terminal 2 with a total of 110 capsules.
"The concept of this capsule hotel is integrated with the concept of developing a smart airport or digital airport at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In Terminal 3, the capsule hotel already existed in 2018, and in February 2020 it was in Terminal 2. Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the first airport in Indonesia to have a capsule hotel, "said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin in Live. Instagram 'AP2 Comes to You', Saturday 6 March 2021.
On the other hand, the existence of capsule hotels also accommodates growing traveler demand for accommodation at the airport.
On the same occasion, Director of PT Capsule Indonesia Rudy Josano said, "Every year there are around 60 million passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, if 5% need lodging or hotels, how much space should be provided for hotels as usual? For this capsule hotel, 400 square meters of space is needed for 120 comfortable and safe capsules. "
As for this year, the Digital Airport Hotel again introduced a new breakthrough in the hospitality industry by providing Roombox which is a capsule-like room but with wider dimensions and enough for 2-3 people.
"This roombox is to fulfill the demands of customers who want to stay in one room together, for example, there are parents with a 12 year old child. Because, for the capsule it is only intended for 1 person, ”said Rudy Josano.
This roombox is located at Digital Airport Hotel Terminal 2, in the same area as the capsule hotel. The facilities available in the Roombox are mattresses for 2-3 people, work desks and chairs, television, air conditioning.
"The whole process of making Roombox is carried out domestically, it is truly a local product and is the pride of all of us," said Rudy Josano.
Furthermore, Rudy Josano explained that the capsule hotel customers come from all walks of life, from tourist destinations to business.
“This capsule hotel at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is truly a breakthrough, because it is able to provide hotels for various purposes including those waiting for transit. There is even a customer from the Middle East who for 1 week rented a capsule, while he was doing business in Jakarta. There is also a family from Makassar who deliberately flew to Soekarno-Hatta Airport just to experience staying at a capsule hotel, ”said Rudy Josano.
In the midst of this pandemic, Digital Aiport Hotel is also implementing strict health protocols including sterilizing each capsule or roombox with UV light.
The rates for capsule hotels at Digital Airport Hotel Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are IDR 200,000 (9 hours) and IDR 300,000 (24 hours). Meanwhile, the roombox is set at IDR 450,000 - IDR 500,000.
