AP II prepares a capex ceiling of IDR 452 billion for services, safety and security in January - September 2021


Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) consistently maintains the operations of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The largest and busiest airport in Indonesia always operates 24 hours a day by complying with regulations for handling COVID-19 and implementing health protocols that apply domestically and according to global standards.

The airport has also received various global awards, including The 2021 COVID-19 Airport Excellence Awards from Skytrax, Airport Health Accreditation certification from Airport Council International, and the highest Safe Travel Score in ASEAN, which is 4.3 (same as Changi Airport) given the Safe Travel Barometer. .

President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said Soekarno-Hatta Airport as Indonesia's main gateway and domestic flight anchor airport had a very important role in national air transportation.

"AP II realizes a tough operation (resilience operation), adapts quickly (agility operation) that prioritizes lean operation so that Soekarno-Hatta Airport can face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

In line with this, air traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is also gradually recovering.

"The flight recovery ratio at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the fourth quarter of 2021 has ranged from 68% to 70%. This means that the current condition of flight traffic has reached 68-70% of the conditions before the pandemic, namely in 2019," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi on December 11, 2021 while conducting a ramp check and leading the preparation for the Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport also said that the movement of aircraft and passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport continues to increase per day, until now it has There are 700 aircraft movements taking off and landing every day.

Muhammad Awaluddin said that in line with the gradually recovering traffic, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has now scored a positive performance.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport as of Quarter IV/2021 has been able to record a positive operating cash flow. This means that the results obtained from airport operations are higher than operating expenses (operating expenses / opex)," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

In line with that, continued Muhammad Awaluddin, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has also scored a positive EBITDA (Earning Before Interest Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization).

"These indicators show the good performance of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the midst of the pandemic, and will greatly support the overall performance of AP II so that we can always maintain Indonesia's air connectivity," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.

Efforts to maintain the operational toughness of Soekarno-Hatta Airport also cannot be separated from the capital expenditure optimization program (capex optimization). Through capex optimization, the company's capital expenditure is concentrated on aspects of improving service, safety and security aspects.

During January - September 2021, the capex ceiling prepared by AP II for airport services, safety and security as well as flight operations for 20 airports managed by the company was recorded at around Rp452 billion.

"Through capex optimization, AP II focuses on service, safety and security. Most of this capex is used for Soekarno-Hatta Airport to support 24-hour operations and serve various types of flights," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Of the capex ceiling of Rp452 billion, Rp29.25 billion was prepared for airport safety and security (6 programs), then flight operational safety and security of Rp389.38 billion (17 programs), as well as passenger and cargo services Rp34.1 billion (6 programs ).

As for examples of airport safety and security programs and flight operations, such as increasing the carrying capacity of runway movement facilities at airports, as well as increasing lighting facilities at passenger terminals.

Meanwhile, examples of passenger and cargo service programs are optimizing terminal areas such as Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport as well as re-layout and expansion of passenger terminals at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport (Aceh).
