Evaluation of 10 Days Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Opened for Commercial Flights, Service and Flight Operations Increase After Revitalization

10 Sep 2022

Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi today, Saturday 10 September 2022, conducted a review of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.

The Minister of Transportation reviewed the results of the revitalization that had been carried out at the airport, accompanied by Plt. Director General of Air Transportation Nur Isnin Istianto, Danlanud Halim Perdanakusuma Marsma TNI Bambang Gunarto and PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin.

On this occasion, the Minister of Transportation provided input regarding the flow of passengers at the terminal so that smoothness was maintained, especially when airplane passengers entered the terminal entrance to go to the check-in area.

The Minister of Transportation also requested that all facilities always be ready in line with the reopening of the airport for commercial purposes after being closed for some time for revitalization.

Revitalization by the Ministry of Transportation is carried out on the land side and air side.

"We are revitalizing the runway, which previously had problems due to age, which has now been resolved. With a runway length of 3,000 meters, all types of aircraft up to Boeing 747 and 777 can land to Halim," said the Minister of Transportation.

In line with the completion of the revitalization, services at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to airplane passengers have increased.

PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the revitalization presented new facilities on the air side and land side which had a positive impact on flight services and operations.

"After being revitalized, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has been opened for commercial flights since September 1, 2022. Evaluation of AP II as an airport operator, after 10 days of being opened for commercial flights, namely September 1-10, that the revitalization carried out by the Ministry of Transportation on the land and air sides improves service standards and flight operations at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Muhammad Awaluddin said the passenger flow at the airport was much better because of the addition of facilities, such as the arrival area.

“After the revitalization, the passenger arrival area has an area of about 1,200 square meters or about 30% wider than before the revitalization. The expansion of the area was followed by the addition of conveyor belts from the previous 2 to 3 units.”

“The addition of this conveyor belt facility has an impact on improving services, for example, passengers can pick up their luggage faster. Moreover, the addition of this conveyor belt can also support the smooth operation of flights and enable airlines to meet on-time performance (OTP) targets," said Muhammad Awaluddin.

Flight operations at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport are also supported by runway revitalization and a better drainage system.

The completion of the revitalization on the air side and the land side, which has made Halim Perdanakusuma Airport able to improve service and operational standards, has become an attraction for airlines.

On September 1-10 2022, the number of flights (take off and landing) at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport cumulatively recorded 214 flights with passenger movements reaching 17,254 passengers.

"All AP II personnel and stakeholders are able to carry out their duties properly serving flights at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport," explained Muhammad Awaluddin.
